THE FRIENDS OF ALL SAINTS SOUTHILL

CHARITY NUMBER 1200699

Happy New Year

Thank you for your support during 2023 and we hope you will continue your support in 2024.

We have some major projects to support to maintain the building in good condition.

In the next few weeks the stonemason should start work on a pillar in the church building and some plaster work the Byng Vault, which will be financed by the restoration fund and the Byng memorial fund.

However the roofs of the tower, the porch and the main aisle need replacing and the Friends will be requested to support that work Currently a faculty is being obtained for the Tower roof. The design of the roof does not comply with current building regulations and needs to be redesigned, as well as new copper/lead covering. The quote received is for £ 62,000, plus VAT and Architects fees of £ 6,200 plus VAT. Grants are being requested, but the Friends will have to play a major roll in the financing of this project.

The other roofs are due to be replaced in the next five years, so the support of the Friends is needed, more than ever.

The year 2023 has been very successful. All four fundraising events were well attended.

The Wine quiz, The Glebe House garden tour and tea, The Rock Choir concert and the Woodland walk all raised over £ 1,000 each. If you missed any of these, please do not hesitate to attend these functions when they are repeated this year or next.

For 2024 three events have been put in the calendar. Open House Tour of Whitbread House on Monday 10th June. The Rock Choir concert in the park on Friday 28th of June and the Woodland walk in September.

We hope that you are able to attend all of these to support the upkeep of the grade 2* listed building

Please note that the Friends bank account was changed last year. Should you require the new bank details, please contact Maureen - Treasurer via email -maureen@thestrutts.co.uk
